J.S. Bach: St John Passion

Johann Sebastian Bach's first major work as the cantor of Leipzig's St. Thomas Church has for hundreds of years appealed to believers and non-believers alike with its universal appeal. Instead of as a suffering human, the St John Passion portrays Jesus as cosmic energy, breaking free from human chains, whose embrace reaches out to all humanity. The delicate arias, heartbreaking interludes and uplifting choral scenes are among Bach's most moving.

The concert is part of the orchestra's subscriber series, which includes childcare (Lapsiparkki, 10 €) at 6:45 p.m. Note that there is no Pre-concert talk before the concert.

The concert has an intermission. The concert ends around 9:15 p.m.

Tickets: Adults 38 € / pensioners 30 € / students, unemployed and conscripts 15 € / children under 17 years 10 €. You can buy tickets from the Tampere Hall ticket office, Aplodi and the Lippupiste online store (Lippupiste adds service fees and possible shipping fees to ticket prices).
