Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra: Flaming Thunder
19.1.2024
19.00 - 20.50
Tampere Hall, Yliopistonkatu 55, 33100 Tampere
Tero Ahonen
The orchestra's spring season starts with the premiere of a composition by a local composer from Tampere.
Matthew Halls, conductor
Alina Ibragimova, violin
Ilkka Hammo: Spring Flames, world premiere
Sibelius: Violin Concerto
Vaughan Williams: Symphony No 6
Ralph Vaughan Williams, who melted the hearts of the English with his musical paintings of landscapes, never recovered from the trauma of the world wars. The sixth, depicting the unmitigated devastation, burning ruins, and cities engulfed in flames, is arguably the composer's most striking and shocking symphony. British turned world star Alina Ibragimova comes to Tampere with one of the cornerstones of her career, Sibelius' Violin Concerto.
The concert is part of the orchestra's subscriber series, which includes a Pre-concert talk (Teokset tutuiksi) at 6 p.m. and childcare (Lapsiparkki, 10 €) at 6:45 p.m.
The concert has an intermission. The concert ends around 8:50 p.m.
Tickets: Adults 30 € / pensioners 24 € / students, unemployed and conscripts 15 € / children under 17 years 10 €. You can buy tickets from the Tampere Hall ticket office, Aplodi and the Lippupiste online store (Lippupiste adds service fees and possible shipping fees to ticket prices).
