Tampere Phillharmonic Orchestra: Zappa
Join us for a concert by the city's very own orchestra!
Jukka Iisakkila, conductor
Marzi Nyman, guitar and vocals
Arttu Takalo, percussions
American Frank Zappa (1940–1993) is known as a musician and composer who forged his own path in the world of music. The concert will feature works from his extensive repertoire, including the most popular material, modern orchestral and chamber music, film, electronic music and jazz.
“Zappa's individualism and sharp criticism of all areas of human activity continually led to conflicts with the outside world. On the other hand, forging his own way and remaining outside the musical community led him to develop many innovative, inventive, and exceptional musical concepts and approaches. These factors shaped Zappa's musical language and aesthetics in a very unique way”, says conductor Jukka Iisakkila.
In the concert, you will hear Zappa's legendary music*:
Frank Zappa (arr. Marzi Nyman): Sofa
Frank Zappa (arr. Marzi Nyman): Bobby Brown
Frank Zappa (arr. Marzi Nyman): Why Does It Hurt When I Pee
Frank Zappa (arr. Marzi Nyman): The Idiot Bastard Song
Frank Zappa: The Dangerous Kitchen
Frank Zappa: Strictly Genteel
Frank Zappa: Peaches En Regalia
Frank Zappa: Bob in Dacron and Sad Jane
