Tove Jansson’s enchanting children's story “The Book about Moomin, Mymble and Little My” is accompanied by Minna Leinonen’s captivating music: “I grew up with the animations of Teddy Drop Ear (Nalle Luppakorva) and Little Mole (Myyrä), which featured music composed by various composers. Through musical means, the characters' trials and emotions were conveyed to me in the most inventive ways. Inspired by these resonant memories, I then approached the composition of Tove Jansson's story. My music captures and colours the story, but also lends it a rhythmic and atmospheric level. It was thrilling to wonder about what the hattifatteners (hattivatti) sound like, or how to mimic the sound of a vacuum cleaner with symphony orchestra instruments.”
