About Tampere Filharmonia
Comprising 97 musicians, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the three full-width symphony orchestras in Finland, and known as a versatile and dynamic orchestra the local audience loves. Preceding the long-standing Chief Conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, Matthew Halls will take over in August 2023 as the orchestra’s next Chief Conductor and Artistic Director.
The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra perfoms in the Tampere Hall, the largest concert and congress centre in the Nordics, with a seating capacity of 1,800. In addition to symphony concerts and the chamber music series, the orchestra also serves annually as an opera and ballet orchestra and performs regularly at the Tampere Biennale contemporary music festival.
