About Tampere Filharmonia

Comprising 97 musicians, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the three full-width symphony orchestras in Finland, and known as a versatile and dynamic orchestra the local audience loves. Preceding the long-standing Chief Conductor Santtu-Matias RouvaliMatthew Halls will take over in August 2023 as the orchestra’s next Chief Conductor and Artistic Director.

The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra perfoms in the Tampere Hall, the largest concert and congress centre in the Nordics, with a seating capacity of 1,800. In addition to symphony concerts and the chamber music series, the orchestra also serves annually as an opera and ballet orchestra and performs regularly at the Tampere Biennale contemporary music festival.

Nightwish’s new album Yesterwynde to receive symphonic world premiere by the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra

4.12.2024 Finnish metal music icon Nightwish will see their critically acclaimed new album Yesterwynde performed for the first time on stage as a symphonic spectacle. Composed by Tuomas Holopainen, Yesterwynde Orchestral, will have its world premiere at Tampere Hall, Finland in August 2025. The music will be performed by the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tampere Opera Choir, and a children's choir, all conducted by conductor Eero Lehtimäki. Tickets for the extra concert to be held on Saturday, August 30th, will be on sale starting Friday, December 20 at 9 AM.

Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates 95 years of music with Sibelius and Britten as the highlights

2.12.2024 The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will celebrate its 95th anniversary in 2025. The milestone year’s concert programme dazzles with its diversity. In addition to beloved classic works, the spring concerts will feature new pieces, premieres, rock and game music. The orchestra will start to collect memories of the shared journey, and call its audience to plan for the upcoming May Day concert. To mark the anniversary, the Tampere Philharmonic will introduce a new logo and visual identity.
