Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra invites applications for the position of


Permanent position. Work begins on January 7th 2020 or as agreed.

Audition on Sunday September 29-30th 2019 at 12.00 (Finnish time, GMT+2) in Tampere Hall, Finland.

Required audition repertoire

  • Joseph Haydn: Concerto for Trumpet in E flat major, movements 1 and 2 with cadezas, played with Bb trumpet.
  • Georges Enesco: Légende
  • Théo Charlier: Etyd no 2 (Du Style) from 36 Études Transcendantes
  • Orchestral excerpts:
    • Bizet: Carmen Overture: From rehearsal number 6 (Andante Moderato) till end
    • Kaipainen: Piano Concerto: from beginning to bar 159
    • Mahler: Symphony No. 5:
      – 1st mvt from beginning till rehearsal number 18
      – Scherzo from rehearsal number 12 till 21
    • Ravel: Piano Concerto G: 1st mvt entirely
    • Sibelius: Symphony No 1:
      – 1st mvt entirely
      – 4th mvt: from letter I till end
    • Sibelius: Symphony No. 2:
      – 1st mvt from letter L till O
      – 2nd mvt from letter F till H
      – 4th mvt from letter O till end
    • Šostakovitš: Symphony No. 9:
      – 1st mvt from letter H till end
      – 3rd mvt from beginning till E
      – 5th mvt from letter H till M
    • Strauss: Alpensinfonie: from rehearsal number 64 till 122 (pages 3-5)
    • Stravinsky: Petruska (1947): From rehearsal number 116 2 bars after rehearsal number 152

Invitation and orchestral material will be sent to the applicants invited to the audition by email after the application time has closed.

The orchestra will provide a pianist for the audition.

Our auditions are open to all nationalities.
Please do not send us a tape. The candidates are invited personally to the audition by e-mail after the application time.
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will not provide any compensation for travel or accommodation expenses.
Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra will provide a pianist for the auditions.
Our orchestra tunes to a1 = 442 Hz.
