The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and art fashion brand Pispala launch a unique clothing collection
The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and a Tampere-based art fashion brand Pispala Clothing launch a joint clothing collection to celebrate the orchestra's 95th anniversary. The collection is inspired by music and visual arts.
The Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its 95th anniversary 2025. During this year, the orchestra will reveal also unexpected angles to music and arts, and has now joined forces with a local art fashion brand Pispala Clothing. The idea for a joint cloth collection came from the desire to create something special for musicians to wear when performing and new fan products for fans of the orchestra. A perfect partner was found close by, Pispala responded to the orchestra’s challenge with enthusiasm and a common mindset was quickly found.
– Our collaboration with Pispala Clothing and visual artist Emmi Kallio has been inspiring! We share the same values: high artistic quality, responsibility and equality are at the heart of what we do in both artistic communities. I don’t know if there is another symphony orchestra that can perform on stage wearing its own, unique pattern. This will be the crown of our anniversary year, says Eija Oravuo, General Manager, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.
The collaborative collection is designed by Pispala Clothing’s chief designer Lauri Järvinen. The collection is based on paintings created by the Tampere-based artist Emmi Kallio, also a big fan of classical and orchestra music. The collection consists of nine garments and four accessories. Onni Ikonen, Managing Director, Pispala Clothing, explains:
– We are honoured to be part of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra’s anniversary year. Our aim was to bring music to life in the cloths in a beautiful and elegant way. We ourselves are very happy with the end result, and now it will be interesting to see how the collection appeal to our audiences.
The Pispala x Tampere Filharmonia x Emmi Kallio collection will be available at the Tampere-talo Shop, Pispala Clothing’s online shop and Pispala Store in Tampere. In addition, Pro Orchestra, the Tampere Philharmonics’ Friends Association, will sell products of the collection in the Tampere Hall at the orchestra’s concerts.
