Jyri Kurri

Jyri Kurri has studied percurssion playing at the Sibelius Academy under the leadership of Markku Hannola, Lassi Erkkilän and Olli-Pekka Martikainen. He also studied at the University of Toronto from 2000 to 2001 as a student of Russell Hartenberger. Kurri teaches at the Tampere Music Academy. He has played as a freelance musician for the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra.

Kurri has been the principal percussion of the Tampere Philharmonic since the autumn of 2002 and the violinist of the Savonlinna Orchestra since 2008. He is also one of the founding members of the Osuma Ensemble.
