Annaleena Jämsä

Annaleena Jämsä has worked as the principal flutist of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra since 2009. She has previously been employed as the principal or co-principal flutist in the Oulu Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Norwegian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Kymi Sinfonietta. She substitutes regularly in several orchestras in the Nordic countries. In addition to her work in the orchestra, Jämsä is a member of a prestigious wind ensemble, the Oslo Chamber Academy. She also teaches flute at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences and gives regularly master classes.

As a soloist she has performed with several Finnish orchestras including the Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Oulu Symphony Orchestra, St. Michel Strings, Kemi City Orchestra, Guards Band of Finland and the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra.

Jämsä won the first prize in the flute category and was awarded as the Best Woodwind Player in the 2003 Lahti National Wind Instrument Competition. In 2001, she won a special prize in the Crusell Flute Competition.

Jämsä pursued her professional studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland with Liisa Ruoho and Ilpo Mansnerus.

Since spring 2022 Annaleena has played a Burkart 9k/Ag Elite -flute. Burkart Flutes invited her to collaborate and join the amazing group of Burkart Artists. Her instrument is also kindly supported by Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.
